“Don’t touch.”
“Be careful.”
“They’re too small.”
“Don’t do that.”
Every time my firstborn came near the newborn, my words were the same...
And everyone warned my first born too — not because we thought he’d hurt the baby, but because he didn’t understand how delicate a newborn is.
I knew he’d never do anything on purpose. He only wanted to see, touch, be close.
But I kept worrying… and slowly I saw it on his face: that little discomfort, that flicker of “am I doing something wrong?”
A child who just wanted to love his sibling was being made to feel like a risk.
That day I realized: if I keep pushing him away with fear, how will his heart learn to love the baby?
So I changed my words.
Instead of “don’t touch,” I whispered, “Touch gently.”
Instead of warnings, I said, “Your baby needs your love too.”
And suddenly his tiny hands became the most careful hands in the world. 🥺
If you’re a mom like me — always worrying, always protecting — try not to push your firstborn away.
They don’t want to harm the baby. They just want to love them too. ❤️

There was a time it was just the two of us.
Hand in hand, talking, dreaming,
watching sunsets like the world belonged to us alone.
We thought we were complete.
Then came tiny feet running ahead,
little voices shouting, “Wait for me!”
Diaper bags instead of car keys.
And suddenly…
what we thought was everything
was only the beginning.
The chaos, the laughter, the sticky little hands,
the bedtime stories and sleepy snuggles
this is a love bigger than we imagined.
From two hearts in love
to four hearts beating together.
We weren’t incomplete before.
But this?
This is what fullness feels like. 🤍
