PHOTOJOURNALIST DIES WHILE COVERING TRASLACION 2026

A photojournalist passed away while performing his professional duties during the Traslacion 2026 on Friday morning.

The victim was identified as Itoh Son, a photographer for the program Saksi. According to fellow media workers, Son suffered a heart attack while stationed at the Quirino Grandstand, one of the key areas of the annual religious event.

Sources revealed that Son had been experiencing flu symptoms for several days but chose to continue working. Prior to the Traslacion, he actively documented major devotional activities related to the Black Nazarene, including the Pahalik.

Son’s passing serves as a solemn reminder to all media practitioners to prioritize their health and safety while carrying out their responsibilities, especially during large-scale and physically demanding events.

The death of Itoh Son marks a significant loss to the field of photojournalism. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication in documenting faith, public events, and the stories of the Filipino people.
