The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has suspended the provision of the Motorcycle Crime Prevention Law that requires motorcycles to have decal number plates.

“Yung IRR (implementing rules and regulations) for motorcycles inilabas na effective June 6, pero hindi pa magpapatupad dahil wala pa ang plaka (The IRR for motorcycles was released on June 6, but will not be implemented when plates are unavailable),” said Atty. Mercy Jane Paras-Leynes, officer-in-charge of the operations division of the LTO.

Leynes said the LTO’s supplier will start delivering license plates next month and the LTO will release plates by September.

The LTO released the revised IRR for Republic Act 11235 or the Motorcycle Crime Prevention Law last week more than a year after a temporary suspension.

The law requires motorists to use decal number plates measuring 135 mm (millimeters) by 85 mm at the front of motorcycles and 235 mm by 135 mm at the rear.

Leynes clarified that other provisions of RA 11235 will be implemented such as requiring registration of the vehicle within five days of its acquisition. - MOTORCYCLE ENTHUSIAST PHILIPPINES.

Humihingi naman ng dispensa si Año kung hindi pa maaaring mapayagan ang pag-aangkas dahil malaking paglabag aniya ito sa physical distancing.

Aniya, unti-unting inaayos ng gobyerno ang transportasyon sa ilalim ng new normal.

Hindi rin maaaring agad-agad payagan na ibalik ang ilang nakagawian na dahil hindi kayang isugal ng pamahalaan na marami ang magkahawaan ng COVID-19
