Actor training thrives when it’s treated as nourishment, not spectacle - and it’s genuinely heartening to witness initiatives that choose rigor, care, and generosity as their compass.

This kind of collaboration reminds us that the craft grows best in community, when institutions and artists meet with shared intent: to deepen practice, sharpen tools, and honor the long road of becoming.

May there be many more rooms like this.
Many more hands willing to build them.
And many more actors allowed to grow without rush, without noise.

IN PHOTOS | Graduates of the 3-day Background Actors’ Workshop receive their certificates from Film Academy Director-General Paolo Villaluna, PTG President Vangie Torcino, Angeli Bayani, Elora Españo, and Ross Pesigan of Meisner Studio Manila.

Background actors are essential collaborators who deserve respect, clear direction, and safe, professional working conditions. This workshop aimed to equip them with concrete tools to step on set ready to meet industry standards. Thank you to our speakers and instructors, and to our partners Guild of Assistant Directors and Script Supervisors of the Philippines (GADSS), Lupon ng Pilipinong Sinematograpo - LPS, and Meisner Studio Manila for making this possible.

The Film Academy of the Philippines, together with industry guilds Philippine Talent Guilds (PTG), Guild of Assistant Directors and Script Supervisors of the Philippines (GADSS) Lupon ng Pilipinong Sinematograpo - LPS, and the Meisner Studio Manila, presents the BACKGROUND ACTORS WORKSHOP.

This 3-day certification workshop aimed at “Presence, Ensemble Work, and Set Coordination, " ensures that background actors are empowered with acting skills and are aligned with standards of shooting protocols.
