THE LAST 38 DAYS: MRRV-9702 BRP MELCHORA AQUINO COMPLETES SEA TRIALS IN JAPAN

Under the visionary leadership of Secretary Art Tugade, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) has been relentless in its goal of developing and improving the maritime safety and security of our country, and uphold its mandate of mobility across the nation, which will ultimately provide the Filipino people a more comfortable and convenient life.

And as the Duterte administration nears its conclusion, Secretary Tugade remains committed and made a covenant with the people not to waste even single day at work. There is no time to relax even until the last day of office.

In these final 38 days of the Duterte administration, the DOTr shares this update that the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) 's second 97-meter Multi-Role Response Vessel (MRRV)to be commissioned as BRP MELCHORA AQUINO (MRRV-9702), has completed its fonal sea trial in Japan, and is expected to arrive by the 1st week of June 2022.

With a maximum speed of 24 knots, this 2nd of two MRRVs has an endurance of no less than 4,000 nautical miles, and equipped with state-of-the-art navigational system, which will greatly improve the PCG’s maritime security and safety capabilities in patrolling the country’s maritime borders.

Within the final stretch of the administration of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and Secretary Tugade, the DOTr will continue to push further to improve and modernize the PCG and accomplish more game-changing projects and transformational initiatives in fulfillment of its mandate.

Because the Filipino people deserve no less.
