Alsons Power's WMPC donated 1 fully-furnished library for the students of Putik Central School in Zamboanga City. WMPC likewise donated a total of 589 armchairs for 8 other elementary and high schools in the city.
KC Ramos, a 6th grade student in the school said it's their first ever library.
"Lagi po akong nakapila sa Internet shop dati para makapag-research. Ngayon po, sa mismong school na namin. Malaki po ang pasasalamat ko sa WMPC," says the consistent honor student beneficiary.
Education and employment assistance has always been at the helm of the Group's community engagement efforts, making it among the most significant contributor for education in Zamboanga City, one of its plants' most valued host communities.

Protecting the Bay, Protecting Sarangani
Alcantara Group’s Sarangani Energy Corporation (SEC) partners with LGU and DENR for Ocean Month 2014 – The Sarangani Energy Corporation (SEC) was joined by the Federation of Association of Barangay Captains (FABC), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the local municipal government and volunteers in their celebration of the Ocean Month last May 28 and 29.
A total of 1,200 mangrove seedpods and 440,000 bangus hatchlings were seeded and released along Sarangani Bay.
The mangroves will soon reinforce the role of the Artificial Reef Domes (ARD) SEC has been deploying in the same area, in keeping the bay healthy and vibrant for the people of Sarangani.

Masonry Skills Development and Livelihood Training
MAASIM, Sarangani (May 24, 2014) – Beneficiaries of the SEC Maasim Tech-Voc Competence Center's (MTCC) Training and Production Program construct a two-classroom building at Mangelen Integrated School in Barangay Kamanga, Maasim.
The program which benefits more than 60 out of school youths in the municipality is made possible through partnerships with Holcim Philippines, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA-12), the Maasim LGU, Southmin iHome, Inc., Association of Construction and Informal Workers, Sarangani Province Empowerment and Community Transformation Forum, Condrado & Ladislawa Alcantara Foundation, Inc., and Alsons Power's Sarangani Energy Corporation.
The program, seeks to improve the level of knowledge and skills of the masons and increase their chances at employment through formal training and certification.
