MANILA: Silverlens is honored to present mirrors, merging, an exhibition of new works by Catalina Africa, on view from 25 July through 22 August 2026.

mirrors, merging is Catalina Africa’s new body of paintings that step into the innerscape of a life in transition. The world is seen and called anew, as Catalina precipitates otherworldly territories into works that test flow forms, dissolution, and the slow collapse of inner terrain into the landscape it mirrors. Five paintings in mirrors, merging are the steles that surround this mystery, registering a painter’s devotional process in thresholds where shape gathers form.

Across the five works, recurring motifs - a tree held steady through shifting fields, water settling into stillness, structures that channel flow toward its own vitality -  trace an unfolding process, each painting a stage in what might be called a personal rite: space claimed, ground prepared, correspondences gathered, energy raised, and finally, release.

MANILA: Join us on Saturday, 11 July 2026, at 2:00 PM for an artist walkthrough with Martha Atienza (Martha Atienza) of The Coconut Tree Methodology at Silverlens Manila.

On the exhibition’s final day, Atienza will reflect on the work following her recent recognition at Art Basel in Basel, Switzerland, where GOODLand—the artist-led platform she founded on Bantayan Island—was awarded the inaugural 2026 VISIBLE Situated Fellowship, supported by ZEGNA.

NEW YORK: Carmen Argote’s Soft Perimeter opens today.

Soft Perimeter marks Argote’s debut exhibition with Silverlens and her first New York solo since Carmen Argote: As Above, So Below at the New Museum in 2019–2020. Many of the formal, material, and conceptual concerns of 720 Sq. Feet: Household Mutations return, refined and elaborated, in the work gathered here. The sculptural object that gives the exhibition its title, Soft perimeter of home (2026), similarly maps a domestic interior: the hybrid home and studio the adult Argote shares with her mother (a frequent collaborator) and a handful of chickens (also collaborators), a space where art making is just one activity among many that sustain the artist’s daily life. Every nook and cranny is filled with personal effects commingled with works-in-progress; it’s this premium on available space that led the linen sculpture to wind up coiled on Argote’s bed, taking on the loose infinity shape that it now occupies on the gallery floor. What once traced the edges of the artist’s home has collapsed in self-embrace, its twists and softness calling up the body more acutely than the rigid geometry of architecture.

Soft Perimeter is on view from July 9 through August 1, 2026. The New York gallery’s updated summer hours are Monday through Saturday, 10 AM to 6 PM, and it remains closed on Sundays.
