What if a brewery felt less like a loud, dark bar and more like your own living room? 🏠🍺
That was the vision behind Palm Tree Abbey. Before it became a sanctuary in Makati, it started as a simple home-brewing hobby in 2015 by two Canadian brothers searching for Belgian-style beers they couldn't find in the Philippines.
What began with simple stock pots eventually grew and caught the attention of Joel at a beer festival in 2017. By 2020, Joel joined as a partner just as the pandemic hit.
While it seemed like a challenge, the shift to online deliveries helped the brand scale. When his partners relocated to Greece and Canada, Joel and his wife took full control of the operations while still running their own creative studio.
After a few years, they finally decided to build a physical taproom. They chose Comuna because of its garden, moving away from "cold" industrial spaces for a warmer, neighborhood feeling.
They wanted a "cafe vibe" where craft beer meets conversation — a place where families, friends, kids, and even pets are all welcome.
For Joel, growing from small "garage" batches to a nano brewery was about more than just making beer. By bringing the same professional discipline he and his wife use in their design studio to the taproom, they turned a creative hobby into a well-loved drinking spot.
Palm Tree Abbey’s growth is a reminder to "go where they are not." When you combine a unique vision with the right systems, you can turn a small idea into a lasting brand. ✨
