We’re proud of you, RJ Abarrientos!

The Kings of Commissioners’ Cup

It may have needed seven hard-fought games, but the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel l walked away from the Commissioners’ Cup as the champions by outclassing the Bay Area Dragons in the Finals.

Justin Brownlee piled one more to his already legendary status as a reinforcement, adding his first of many championships as a Filipino citizen.

Christian Standhardinger supplied much-needed energy offensively and defensively, especially with ailing Japeth Aguilar at the center slot. With his contribution, the 6’7” slotman got rewarded the Finals MVP.

Jamie Malonzo reserved his best game in the clinching match with Scottie Thompson, L.A. Tenorio, Stanley Pringle, and Nards Pinto backing up the Tim Cone-mentored squad.

Squaring up with an Olympic bronze medalist-coached squad, the most winningest tactician of PBA history had his wits challenged. But Cone was more than ready, proving once again that he deserved the title of the best in history.

Who is Slavoljub Lale Gorunovic?

With Chot Reyes focusing his sights on Gilas Pilipinas, former PBA player Jolas Lastimosa will take over the helm for the MVP favorite TNT Tropang Giga. But Lastimosa will not be alone in the job. According to an article from PhilStar, Serbian tactician Slavoljub Lale Gorunovic is on his way to assuming the active consultant role, a position not new to the team.

Gorunovic previously had a head coaching stint with Kaohshuing Steelers in P.League + of Taiwan and US Monastir from Basketball Africa League (BAL). He also had a chance to control Tab Baldwin’s former team from Lebanon, Segasse SC. Besides the TNT duty, the well-traveled coach will also input some advice on the National team.

His coaching prowess will be challenged as the Tropang Giga is coming off the worst performance in Reyes’ comeback, winning only four of their 12 total assignments. Consecutively, they failed to qualify for the playoffs after being runner-up in this season’s Philippine Cup.

Do you think this TNT move can make them better for the next conference?
