Happy World Mental Health day! 💆🧘

It's been a rollercoaster ride w/ my wellness journey, & it continues. Stress happens. Triggers happen. So many things to do, so many options! There's the notion of the current generation being paralyzed w/ the "Paradox of Choice" (vv previous generations' conditions of lack of choices). How do we cope?

Everyday, we show up & do the work. It doesn't just happen & get served on a silver platter. I am no expert, & each person's journey is beautifully different. Pls indulge me in sharing 3 daily practices that have been helping me, & if it resonates, I hope these help you too!

1. Set boundaries. It's part of the human condition to seek connection, to be seen and heard. But apart from seeking external connection, do we take the time to connect w/, see & hear ourselves? I've found it helpful to tune in & ask, what do I need right now? Do I really need to keep up w/ the pressures of the external world? Do I have the energy for it? Do I need rest? Do I need to be more challenged? The answer is within. We cannot give a part of ourselves if our "cup" is empty. It's good to constantly fill it up and let it flow to share for others.

2. Balance absorbing and creating. Speaking of the "cup", have you ever felt that your mind is so noisy or heavy? I notice this in me when so many things happen in my life on full throttle. I also notice this when my media exposure time is substantial in a day. In this digital world of the hyper-empowered user / consumer, so many things are available to us in a tap of a button. When I get overwhelmed, I balance it out w/ a creative activity like writing, moving (yoga!) or cooking. What's your fave creative activity?

3. Reach out. Engage. I believe that apart from opting out of the digital world to invite balance & wellness into our lives, we can still keep creating safer spaces for each other, both online & offline. I try to "consciously" use social media, by commenting & messaging my friends, not just lurking. This helps me foster connections w/ people I value, regardless of whether they are near or far. It's a way to be seen and heard, & allowing others to be seen & heard too.
