“The Photo That Almost Didn’t Happen”
It was our town’s fiesta, and the plaza buzzed with excitement. I was just a small-town girl with a camera slung over my shoulder, eagerly waiting for This Band to take the stage. As a fan of their music, I wasn’t just there to watch—I was determined to capture something special.
When they finally started performing, the crowd surged forward, filling every inch of space near the stage. I found myself stuck at the back, too far to get the shots I envisioned. But giving up wasn’t an option. I weaved my way through the crowd, squeezing and maneuvering, inch by inch, until I was just a little closer.
Still, it wasn’t enough.
Then came my chance: the band invited everyone to come closer. In a flash, the plaza erupted—people rushed forward, and I made the choice to push ahead too. I found myself near the VIP table, standing small among the town leaders. One kind man noticed me struggling and said,
“Akyat ka. Tayo ka dito sa upuan. Sige!”
I couldn’t help but chuckle, thanked him, and climbed onto the chair.
I waited patiently for the perfect moment—for the singer to pour her soul into a song, for the lights to dance just right—and when that moment came, I pressed the shutter.

Those photos weren’t just pictures; they were proof of determination. They were a reminder that sometimes artistry means braving the chaos, trusting your instincts, and doing whatever it takes to capture magic.
These remain some of my favorite shots I’ve ever taken.
