Natural Disaster, Corruption, Weak Infrastructure are among the problems that hurt the tourism.

1. Natural Disaster

The Philippines is located along the Pacific Ring of Fire and the typhoon belt, making it prone to natural disasters such as typhoons, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and floods.

2. Corruption and Overpricing

In some tourist spots, locals or operators take advantage of visitors by charging excessive prices or unnecessary “extra fees.” For example, a short tricycle ride that normally costs ₱20–₱30 for residents might be charged ₱100 or more for tourists. This creates a negative image of the Philippines as an unfair or untrustworthy destination, driving away repeat visitors.

3. Weak Infrastructure

Corruption in the government directly affects the quality of infrastructure in the Philippines. Funds that are meant for building or improving roads, airports, bridges, and tourist facilities are sometimes misused, delayed, or even stolen through dishonest practices like overpricing of projects, ghost projects, or favoritism in bidding. Because of this, the infrastructure that should help boost tourism remains poor or incomplete.
