For Motorcycle Riders and Travelers

Prayer of St. Columbanus
Be a bright flame before me, O God,
A guiding star above me,
A smooth path below me,
A kindly shepherd behind me—
Today, tonight, and forever.
Alone with none but You, my God,
I journey on my way;
What need I fear when You are near,
O King of night and day?
More secure am I within
Your hand than if a host
Did round me stand.

Prayer to St. Christopher
Lord, grant me a steady hand and a watchful eye,
That no one may be hurt as I pass by.
Protect me on the road today,
From engine trouble and from harm’s way.
Guide my journey, guard my ride,
And bring me safely home beside
Those I love.
Amen.
