KCNHS-SGC Successfully Defends Governance and Child Protection Documents During Division Monitoring and Evaluation

The School Governance Council (SGC) of Kidapawan City National High School (KCNHS) earned commendation for its successful presentation of documents and proofs of functionality during the recent Monitoring and Evaluation conducted by the Schools Division Office of Kidapawan City.

Leading the Division Monitoring Team were Miss Cherrie Anne M. Galanto, Senior Education Program Specialist for Human Resource Development, Mr. Arnel E. Alcosaba, Senior Education Program Specialist for Planning and Research, and Miss Je-Ann Mae C. Estrada, Administrative Aide. The activity aimed to assess and validate the effectiveness of the SGC and Child Protection Committee (CPC) in promoting shared governance, accountability, and learner protection in schools.

Representing KCNHS, SGC Coordinator Sir Julius C. Cervancia and Designated Co-Chairperson Miss Nerissa Angela M. Doble presented the council's documentation and supporting evidence with confidence. The presentation showcased the school’s strong partnership with its stakeholders and its consistent implementation of Programs, Projects, and Activities (PPAs) that prioritize learners' welfare and community involvement.

The commendable presentation highlighted the SGC’s active involvement in school governance, a success largely credited to the committed council members under the strong and steady leadership of outgoing SGC Chairperson Miss Rhoda C. Bacalla, who faithfully served the council for nearly five years.

The Division Team also provided technical assistance during the visit to enhance sustainability, improve feedback mechanisms, and strengthen child protection protocols across schools.
The successful documentation and presentation by KCNHS-SGC demonstrated its commitment to participatory and transparent school governance, further reinforcing the role of the SGC as a vital structure in ensuring quality and inclusive education.

DepEd, Barangay Poblacion Partner to Strengthen Education Efforts

Kidapawan City – The Schools Division Office (SDO) of Kidapawan City, led by Superintendent Miguel P. Fillalan, Jr., CESO V, held its DepEd sa Barangay convergence in Barangay Poblacion on August 5, 2025, bringing together education stakeholders to strengthen basic education in the community.

The meeting, held at the Barangay Hall, was attended by Poblacion barangay officials, PSDSs, and school heads including Ms. Noemi Cawagas of KCPES, Dr. Glady E. Pagunsan of KCNHS, and SGC Co-chairperson Nerissa Angela M. Doble. The dialogue focused on assessment results from ELNA, RMA, Phil-IRI, ALS, ADM, and SNED, highlighting urgent educational needs.

To address these, Fillalan proposed the “Luntian Kidapawan Learning Resource Center,” a facility envisioned to provide inclusive and accessible learning support. Local officials responded positively, offering various forms of support—from improving facilities to launching TESDA-accredited programs.

Youth and SK leaders, including Joanna Edsal Duran, pledged initiatives to aid out-of-school youth and learners with disabilities. She emphasized the importance of community engagement through the School Governance Council in improving learner outcomes.

The barangay council, led by Punong Barangay Melvin Gerald E. Lamata III, committed to helping realize the learning center and sustaining education-centered programs.

The event ended with a shared commitment: to put learners first in every initiative—true to the division’s vision, “Sa DepEd Kidapawan, mga bata ang number one!”
