What is The Bloom Phase?
The blooming phase happens on our 1st pour. It is usually with 2:1 water:coffee ratio, about 60grams of water on 30 grams of coffee. In this phase we want to make sure that all of the coffee grounds are wet. A soon as we finished our first pour we must either swirl our kettle or stir our dripper to make sure all of the grounds are well saturated, (of course it depends on our preference if we would use swirling or stirring). In the bloom phase we are allowing C02 out of the coffee grounds to be released, thus producing a sweet aroma from the coffee. Because of the bloom phase we made the wet coffee grounds easier to extract in the remaining phase of the brew. The blooming phase only last 30-45 seconds after that you must continue to pour your remaining water according to your preferred recipe.
