In a world immersed with technology, cultivating love for reading has become a predominant challenge. Thus, Minagbag High School supports the DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) Program, that supplements the regular reading program by encouraging independent reading during Catch Up Fridays.

On the second friday of its implementation, teachers decorated their classrooms to provide comfort and friendly ambiance to students, while students stayed with their group of friends or in their own convenient spots while they are reading their preferred books. Some also brought educational games like word hunt and scrabble to enhance their vocabulary.

The DepEd Memorandum 001 s. 2024 states that the β€œCatch Up Fridays” program will dedicate the first half of the day to reading and the other half to values, peace and health education along with "Homeroom Guidance Program"

DepEd also said that its reading program will β€œgive learners opportunities for reading intervention and reading enhancement through developmentally appropriate reading materials."
