Richard and Cherry Kearton introduced the ‘hide’ method of bird-watching and photography. Cherry stood on Richard’s shoulders to take pictures. Pioneers of wildlife photography, they produced "With Nature and a Camera" in 1899, featuring 160 photographs.

Richard Kearton (1862–1928) moved to London in 1882 to work for Cassell’s publishing house. Cherry Kearton (1871–1940) was a photographer and documentary filmmaker. Together, they published "With Nature and a Camera" with Richard as the writer and Cherry as the photographer. Cherry later founded his own film company, producing natural history and expedition films.
