African lovebirds (Agapornis spp.) are native to sub-Saharan Africa. There are nine species of lovebirds, and their exact origins vary depending on the species. However, here are the general regions where some of the most common African lovebird species are found:
1. Grey-headed Lovebird (Agapornis canus): Madagascar
2. Red-headed Lovebird (Agapornis pullarius): West and central Africa, from Senegal to Ethiopia
