🏠 HOUSE PREPARATION CHECKLIST FOR TYPHOON

🔧 1. Secure the Structure

[ ] Check and repair loose roof sheets, gutters, and downspouts.

[ ] Reinforce weak doors, windows, and ceilings.

[ ] Install storm shutters or nail plywood boards over glass windows especially for houses near coastal area

[ ] Clear the roof and ensure there are no leaks.

[ ] Secure or remove any antennas, satellite dishes, or solar panels that could be blown away.

🌳 2. Clear the Surroundings

[ ] Trim tree branches near the house to prevent them from falling.

[ ] Tie down or bring inside outdoor items (plants, furniture, bikes, tools, tents, etc).

[ ] Check drainage, canals and gutters—clear out leaves, trash, and debris, clean sump pump basin from debris.

[ ] Move your vehicle to higher ground or a covered area.

⚡ 3. Check Utilities

[ ] Charge power banks, flashlights, and rechargeable lamps.

[ ] Make sure gas tanks, water containers, and emergency fuel are secure.

[ ] Turn off LPG tanks before the typhoon hits.

[ ] Ensure the circuit breaker and electrical wiring are in safe condition.

🧺 4. Prepare an Emergency Kit

Pack the following essentials:

[ ] Clean drinking water (at least 3 days’ supply)

[ ] Ready-to-eat food (canned goods, biscuits, etc.)

[ ] First-aid kit and necessary medicines

[ ] Battery-powered radio

[ ] Flashlights with extra batteries

[ ] Whistle and multi-purpose tool

[ ] Important documents (IDs, land titles, insurance) in a waterproof bag

[ ] Extra clothes, blankets, and rain gear

[ ] Cash in small denominations

👨‍👩‍👧 5. Family & Safety Plan

[ ] Discuss an evacuation plan and meeting point with family members.

[ ] Know the nearest evacuation centers or safe houses.

[ ] Keep emergency contact numbers visible and saved on phones.

[ ] Prepare for pets (food, leash, cage, vaccination papers).

🕒 6. During the Typhoon

[ ] Stay indoors and away from windows and glass doors.

[ ] Unplug electrical appliances if flooding is likely.

[ ] Monitor news and weather updates.

[ ] Do not go outside until authorities declare it is safe.

🌈 7. After the Typhoon

[ ] Check surroundings for downed power lines and report them.

[ ] Inspect the house for damage before turning on electricity.

[ ] Boil or treat water before drinking.

[ ] Clean and disinfect areas affected by floodwater.

[ ] Help neighbors if it’s safe to do so.
