Another successful training was conducted by the Bureau of Plant Industry – Guimaras National Crop Research Development and Production Support Center on May 13–14, 2026. The activity served not only as an opportunity to gain knowledge and technical skills, but also as a meaningful avenue to strengthen the participants’ commitment to sustainable agriculture, safe food production, environmental protection, and healthy farming practices while preserving natural resources for future generations. The activity was attended by local organic farmers, Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) implementers, and organic agriculture practitioners from various municipalities of Guimaras.

🌱The training formally opened on May 13, 2026 with a series of informative lectures delivered by resource speakers from the Central Office. Jenny Lyn A. Patungan, Organic Agriculture Program Focal Person and Mark Christopher E. Valdez, Organic Agriculture Program Alternate Focal Person, discussed various topics related to organic crop production, post-harvest handling, and processing based on the provisions of the Code of Practice (PNS/BAFS 377:2022).

🌱On the second day, May 14, 2026, participants attended the Techno Fair, where they witnessed various ceremonial and promotional activities conducted by the Center. In the afternoon, hands-on activities were facilitated to provide participants with practical learning experiences. These activities included the preparation of organic fertilizers through vermicomposting and natural fermented solutions, proper post-harvest handling of crops, as well as the packaging and labeling of organic products.

With the knowledge, techniques, and experiences acquired from the activity, the Center looks forward to encouraging more farmers and agricultural practitioners to venture into organic agriculture β€” promoting sustainable farming systems, producing healthier food for families and communities, and adopting farming practices that care for and protect the environment. This initiative likewise supports the agenda of Francisco β€œKiko” Tiu Laurel Jr. for a more sustainable and resilient agriculture sector in the country.
