𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗟𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘆? 𝗢𝗨𝗧—𝗼𝗳—𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗖𝗛 𝗡𝗼 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲. ​𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺⁣⁣

The digital divide is a reality, but it doesn't have to be permanent. 𝗢𝗻 𝗔𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗹 29, 2026, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 (𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗦𝗼𝗰) 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗼𝗴 𝗘𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗼𝗴, 𝗜𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝘂𝗻 𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲. This initiative was made possible through the essential collaboration and support of the school's principal, 𝗝𝗲𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝗕𝗼𝗼𝗰.⁣

The session relied on 23 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿𝘀 to guide participants through core digital essentials. Students moved from the basics of computer navigation; mastering mouse clicks, keyboard functions, and file management — to effectively using web browsers. The goal was to replace hesitation with confidence, ensuring everyone felt capable of finding and using online resources on their own.⁣

Beyond the technical training, ComSoc provided tangible support by distributing essential school supplies. An initiative funded by the first semester liabilities collected from the Society's own constituents. The team also prioritized digital safety, walking participants through how to identify suspicious links, dodge online scams, and recognize the browser security warnings that signal an unsafe. ⁣

One of the most important parts of the day was tackling the mess of AI-generated content and misinformation. The volunteers introduced the 𝗛𝘂𝗧𝗮𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗴 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 (Hunong, Tanawa, Pangutana / Stop, Look, Ask). It’s a straightforward way for users to pause and check the credibility of what they see online before hitting share, helping build a more critical mindset when navigating the internet. ⁣

We know a single day isn’t a magical fix for every hurdle these children face, but it was never just about the technicalities of "digital literacy." It was about sitting side-by-side and working through the "I can't do this" moments until they became "I just did that." By opening this door, the Society hopes to remind them that the digital world isn't a gatekept secret — it’s a playground that belongs to them, too. If this initiative inspired even one child to view a career in technology as a viable future rather than a distant dream, then the mission at Mandulog was a success.
