𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐝𝐨𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐬

The composite team headed by Mr. Mark Lloyd Coloma emphasized to the scouts the international initiative that focuses on going green with environmental education and outdoor ethics, Leave No Trace, today, April 1, at Camp Himaya.

In this initiative, the team led the scouts to understand the Leave No Trace’s seven principles: planning and preparing, traveling and camping on durable surface, disposing waste properly, leaving what one finds, minimizing campfire impacts, respecting wildlife, and being considerate to other visitors.

The endeavor gave the scouts opportunities to apply these principles through outputs that are uploaded to the initiative’s official website.
Inculcating awareness on the present situation of the environment, and not to be confused with the Clean and Green Movement, the Leave No Trace movement centered on outdoor activities only.

Senior scouts geared up to be immersed in survival skills 1 and 2 at the area situated behind Camp Himaya, So. Bingig, Brgy. III, Himamaylan City, Thursday afternoon, March 30.

306 male senior scouts and 119 female senior scouts will join survival skills 1 for one and a half days, while 45 male senior scouts and 39 female senior scouts will participate in survival skills 2 for two days.

After conducting the orientation yesterday, Mr. Mark Tumpong, Negros Occidental Council member, will facilitate an opening program, and will signal the scouts’ moving out from the camp.

Tumpong pointed out the role of each scout in working together to learn and survive.

To be assisted by 21 support staff members, the activity aims for senior scouts to internalize the true meaning of survival and its fundamentals, resulting to character development and the attainment of scouting’s goal.
