🏗️ 5 Build-Build-Build Projects Changing the Game for GenTri in 2026
If you’ve noticed more construction equipment around Governor’s Drive and Open Canal lately, here’s why. These 5 projects are slashing travel times and making General Trias the ultimate "Mid-Point Hub" of Cavite.
1. CALAX: Subsection 3 (Silang-Aguinaldo to Gov. Drive)
The Status: Slated to open this first half (H1) of 2026!
The Impact: This is the big one. It connects the Silang (Aguinaldo) Interchange directly to Governor’s Drive in General Trias. No more crawling through the usual Aguinaldo Highway traffic just to get to the expressway.
2. Bataan-Cavite Interlink Bridge (BCIB)
The Status: Major marine works bidding concluded in Feb 2026; full-scale construction is underway.
The Impact: While it’s a massive multi-year project, the "quality-first" push in 2026 is moving this 32km bridge forward. It will eventually connect Naic/Tanza/GenTri area to Bataan.
3. Daang Hari Extension (Open Canal Road) Widening
The Status: Ongoing road widening and flyover completions (like the Malagasang Flyover) are finalizing in 2026.
The Impact: The road connecting Imus to GenTri and Tanza is being transformed into a major commercial corridor. With SM City General Trias rising in the Riverpark township, this road is becoming the "New Daang Hari."
4. Cavite-Batangas Expressway (CBEX)
The Status: Joint venture between SMC and the Cavite Government. Construction is active with a 2026-2027 completion target.
The Impact: This 27km tollway starts at CALAX Silang and runs through Amadeo and Indang toward Nasugbu.
5. LRT-1 Cavite Extension (Phase 1 Operations)
The Status: With the new 4th-gen train sets fully certified, Phase 1 (Redemptorist to Dr. Santos) is easing the "first leg" of the commute for Caviteños.
The Impact: While the tracks haven't reached GenTri yet, the integration of the PITX and the extension makes the "Park and Ride" lifestyle much more viable for GenTri residents.
