📣 OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT

Northern Iloilo State University KMITT Office announces the upcoming Patent Search, Referencing, and Mendely-Based Citation Training for the students of the College of Engineering (COENG) and the College of Industrial Technology (CIT), to be conducted on December 4, 2025, at the NISU Mini Theater.

This activity is organized in coordination with the leadership of:

College of Industrial Technology (CIT)

2. Sherwin Castellano, Chairperson, Architectural Drafting Technology
3. Engr. Nole Pamplona, Chairperson, Automotive Technology
4. Engr. Ronald Derla, Chairperson, Electrical Technology

College of Engineering (COEng)
1. Engr. Raul Deguma, Dean
2. Engr. Lovell Baria, Chairperson, Mechanical Engineering
3. Engr. Crispaul Armeje, Chairperson, Civil Engineering

The training also involves the faculty members handling research subjects from both the COENG and CIT departments to ensure alignment with academic requirements and research development outcomes.

Two distinguished speakers will lead the technical sessions:

🔷 Engr. Rosalie Grace S. De La Cruz, Dean, College of Industrial Technology and Chairperson, Industrial Registry Office (KMITT)

Will deliver the session on Patent Search and Prior Art Searching, including IP types, patentability requirements, and the use of IPOPHL, WIPO, and Google Patents.

🔷 Engr. Ronald Derla
Faculty, Electrical Technology & Research Instructor

Will lead the session on IPOPHL-Aligned Patent Referencing and Citation Writing and Will conduct hands-on training on Mendely for citation formatting and reference management.

This upcoming activity aims to enhance the research capability of students by strengthening their competencies in patent search, ethical referencing, and structured research documentation.

NISU KMITT encourages all CIT and COENG students, especially those currently enrolled in research subjects, to participate actively in this academic enrichment program.

This activity aims to strengthen students’ competencies in intellectual property awareness, ethical referencing, and research writing as part of their developmental research requirements.

NISU KMITT looks forward to the active participation of all CIT and COENG students in this important academic enrichment activity.

NISU KMITT Participates in IPOPHL Training on Commercialization and Technology Transfer

The Northern Iloilo State University Knowledge Management Innovation & Technology Transfer Office (NISU KMITT) proudly participated in the IPOPHL Training for ITSOs on Commercialization and Technology Transfer held at Leyte Normal University from November 17–21, 2025.

Innovation gains its fullest value when research outputs are transformed into practical, real-world applications. Through this training, NISU KMITT strengthened its competencies in commercialization, licensing, IP valuation, and technology transfer processes: key areas that ensure university-developed technologies advance beyond prototypes toward industry utilization and societal impact.

By enhancing strategic IP management, market alignment, and collaboration with industry stakeholders, NISU KMITT continues to play a critical role in building a sustainable, research-driven innovation ecosystem for Northern Iloilo and the wider region.

NORTHERN ILOILO STATE UNIVERSITY proudly announces that the
Office of the Scientific Publications – NISU has been officially registered with the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) under Registration No. 4/2025/00521050, effective October 3, 2025 and valid for ten (10) years.

This registration marks another milestone in NISU’s continuous pursuit of academic excellence, innovation, and intellectual property protection. The registered emblem—featuring an open book and a light bulb in navy blue, white, and gold—symbolizes knowledge, innovation, and scholarly communication, embodying NISU’s strong academic identity.

This milestone is made possible through the initiative and efforts of JV Laforteza, Engr. Rosalie Grace De La Cruz of the Office of the KMITT – NISU, Dr. Allemar Jhone Dellima (University Director Office of the Publication) and with the creative design led by Dr. Jan Carlo Arroyo (University Centers Director ) for the Office of the Scientific Publications

Congratulations to Madelyn Gumarac and Arthur Gumarac

The Northern Iloilo State University, through the Knowledge Management, Innovation, and Technology Transfer (KMITT) / Intellectual Property and Technology Business Incubation (TBI) Office, extends its warmest congratulations to Madelyn Gumarac and Arthur Gumarac for the grant of their Utility Model.

This milestone was made possible through the effort and leadership of Engr. Rosalie Grace S. De La Cruz, former KMITT Director, and now the Chair of the Industrial Property Registry Office and Dean of the College of Industrial Technology (CIT).
