The Jews thought that the Torah solved the problem of sin. Paul argued, it didn't make any difference. People still died. (In fact, the law magnified our sins; 7:5-11.)
The turning point in history was not the giving of the Torah through Moshe. It was the coming of Jesus.
Rom. 5 (NLT): ¹⁴ Still, everyone died—from the time of Adam to the time of Moses—even those who did not disobey an explicit commandment of God, as Adam did. Now Adam is a symbol, a representation of Christ, who was yet to come.
¹⁵ But there is a great difference between Adam’s sin and God’s gracious gift. For the sin of this one man, Adam, brought death to many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of forgiveness to many through this other man, Jesus Christ.
Isaiah's vision of God in power, glory, and holiness changed his life forever. A court prophet who may have spoken the wrong things, he confessed his sins and received forgiveness. He was then sent out to be a powerful voice for God. (Isaiah 6)
