UPDATE: Adamson University President Fr. Daniel Franklin Pilario, C.M., has been appointed Commissioner for Church, Education, and Institutional Reform of the Philippine Truth and Reconciliation Commission, also known as the “EJK Truth Commission,” where he will oversee truth literacy initiatives, prevention programs, public education, and institutional reform recommendations following its launch on Wednesday, May 27, at the Archbishop’s Palace in Mandaluyong City.

The nongovernment body aims to document the lived experiences of victims of extrajudicial killings (EJK) linked to the war on drugs campaign under former President Rodrigo Duterte.

Human rights groups said the testimonies and evidence gathered through the commission’s investigation may support efforts to hold accountable law enforcers allegedly involved in the anti-drug campaign operations.

The commission also seeks to assist victims and their families by promoting justice, recognizing their dignity, and providing “evidence-based recommendations and referral-ready packages” for concerned government agencies.
