A Monday Morning Letdown at Cely's Cafe in Digos: A Candid Review from a Coffee Enthusiast
Hey there, fellow coffee aficionados and small business supporters! Today, I'm bringing you an honest review of my recent visit to Cely's cafe in Digos, a charming little city that's not exactly bustling with Monday morning energy like its larger counterparts.
Now, I've been reviewing cafes and small businesses for a solid decade, and my journey has led me to places big and small, each with its own unique charm. Unfortunately, my latest venture into Cely's left me feeling a bit underwhelmed.
The branch, strategically located beside the Mediatrix church, boasts a spacious setting with an abundance of tables. Yet, at 10 am on a Monday, I found myself surrounded by emptiness. Understandable, Mondays can be slow, but the lack of customers was notable.
We decided to try their best sellers - baked macaroni, chicken wings with rice, blue lemonade booba, and the intriguing cold brew flamed orange. But before diving into the flavors, a minor hiccup caught my attention.
Cely's menu lacked specific sizes for their coffee drinks, offering a flat rate for what seemed to be a mysterious cup size. Curiosity got the best of me, so I asked the cashier about the expected size of my cold brew flamed orange. The response? A confident "12 oz."
Imagine my surprise when the to-go cup arrived, resembling more of an 8 oz coffee jelly cup rather than the expected 12 oz. My disappointment was palpable, and regrettably, I didn't capture the moment on camera.
As someone who once owned a specialty coffee shop, I understand the importance of proper pricing and ideal cup sizes in the business. Naturally, my expectations for Cely's were set high, and sadly, they fell short.
Now, let's talk about the silver lining - the baked macaroni. It was a shining star amid the disappointment, earning its spot as a true best-seller. On the other hand, the chicken wings left me wanting more, not in a good way. The sizes of the wings were questionable, and the overall taste didn't leave a lasting impression.
Despite the grandeur of the space, it's evident that size isn't everything. If the food and coffee don't hit the mark, the charm of a spacious cafe won't bring customers back.
In conclusion, my experience at Cely's cafe left me with mixed feelings. While the baked macaroni managed to salvage the visit, the underwhelming chicken wings and misleading coffee cup size overshadowed the overall charm of the cafe. Here's hoping for some improvements in the future – after all, small businesses thrive on constructive feedback.
