🦟 United Against Dengue: Protecting Our Learners, Building a Safer School Community
In celebration of Dengue Prevention and Control Month, the Digos City Health Unit, in partnership with the Digos City Division Health Team and with the full support of school heads across the Digos City Division, continues to strengthen efforts in safeguarding the health and well-being of learners through the implementation of Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) in school premises.
Yesterday, Pedro V. Basalan Elementary School proudly joined this significant initiative as part of its commitment to fostering a safe, healthy, and dengue-free learning environment. This preventive measure aims to reduce the risk of dengue transmission and ensure that every learner can study and thrive in a secure and conducive setting.
Beyond this activity, teachers continuously encourage learners to practice proper hygiene, cleanliness, and environmental sanitation—not only within the school grounds but also in their homes and communities. Maintaining clean surroundings and eliminating mosquito breeding sites remain among the most effective ways to prevent the spread of dengue.
The fight against dengue is a shared responsibility. Through unity, vigilance, and collective action, we can protect our learners, strengthen our communities, and create a healthier and safer future for all.
Together, let us say: Kontra Dengue, Para sa Batang Ligtas at Malusog!

Parent Orientation: Understanding the New Learning System
Pedro V. Basalan Elementary School successfully conducted a Parent Orientation on Understanding the New Learning System to inform and guide parents regarding the Department of Education's implementation of the Three-Term Academic Calendar and other important school programs and policies.
In his opening remarks, Sir Eduardo P. Paller, Jr., Principal I, warmly welcomed the parents and emphasized the importance of their active participation in their children's education. He also highlighted the significance of adhering to the school's proper dress code, reminding both learners and parents that appropriate attire contributes to a positive, disciplined, and respectful learning environment.
The orientation proper featured presentations on key school policies and programs. Ma'am Rowena A. Malahay discussed the newly implemented Three-Term Academic Calendar, explaining its structure, schedule, and expected benefits for learners. This was followed by presentations on the Grading System for KS1 and KS2 by Ma'am Jocelyn G. Marata and Ma'am Gimaline L. Navarro, who provided parents with a clearer understanding of the assessment and reporting processes under the new learning system.
Further discussions included the Senior High School Program Overview presented by Ma'am Emma M. Cabonita, the Work Immersion Program discussed by Ma'am Marive C. Alcomendras, and Education in Emergencies (EiE) presented by Ma'am Janeth A. Grande. These sessions aimed to equip parents with essential information to better support their children's academic journey.
This parent orientation served as an effective platform for strengthening the partnership between the school and parents, ensuring a shared understanding of the new learning system and fostering a supportive environment for student success.
