DCCES learners receive grant from DavSur for TLS Improvement

To make true of the promise of prioritizing the education sector, the Digos City Central Elementary School ( DCCES ) learners receive a total of Php 598,000.00 fund for the improvement of the Temporary Learning Spaces ( TLS ) from the Office of the Provincial Governor Yvonne R. Cagas of Davao del Sur today, April 13.

The project has been made a priority after Barangay Kagawad Ian Giron saw the plight of the learners who will be conducting classes in make-shift rooms devoid of an environment conducive for learning with the support of the DCCES PTA Board of Directors.

“ When DCCES teachers called me and ask for my assistance for the improvement of TLS, I witnessed every room and how difficult it was for learners to brave through the very hot weather under these spaces and sometimes battling with the rain during class hours so I brought the matter to Governor Cagas and answered the plea. Today’s turn-over ceremony marks a dedication reflected into action made by our provincial governor”, Giron shared.

The ceremony was attended by Provincial Governor Yvonne R. Cagas, OIC- Schools Division Superintendent of Digos City Dr. Melanie P. Estacio, Division Senior Education Program Specialist, Peter Jason C. Senarillos, Public Schools District Supervisors, Mr. Neil D. Bongcayao and Dr. Ely G. Cataluna, DCCES School Principal, Inda D. Nacua, DCCES PTA President Carlito D. Laceda, PTA BODs, teachers, parents, and learners.

The program began with a ribbon cutting, which officially opened the newly improved temporary learning spaces for the DCCES learners. It was followed by a blessing of the TLS officiated by Rev. Fr. Randy Lingo, PSDP.

The formal turn-over ceremony followed, which signified the transfer of ownership and responsibility of the building from the Province of Davao del Sur to the DCCES community.

“ I truly believe in the importance of education and the government's commitment to provide quality education to all students, regardless of their economic status. We do not know one of you here will become the future governor of Davao del Sur, hence, our continued pursuit in accomplishing the legacy in education of the late Hon. Dodo Ra. Cagas and one of the main concerns of his better half, Congresswoman Mercedes “ Didi” Cagas”, Gov. Cagas said during the event.

Mrs. Inda D. Nacua gratefully shared words of appreciation to the many individuals who have made the project a reality. Barangay Kagawad Giron and the DCCES PTA Board of Directors were also recognized for their hard work and dedication to the project. They were commended for their efforts in advocating for the improvement of the learning facilities and ensuring that the project was successfully implemented.

“The turnover ceremony for the improvement of the temporary learning spaces was a momentous occasion that symbolized the commitment of the government and the community to provide a better learning environment for the DCCES learners. Today, is a celebration of progress and a reminder that, with the collaboration and cooperation of all stakeholders, significant improvements can be achieved”, Nacua stated.

The TLS are currently utilized by the Grade Four and Grade Five learners of DCCES.
