𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐐𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐂𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐞 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐨

March 18, 2025 — The Provincial Government of Quirino, spearheaded by Governor Dakila Carlo E. Cua and Congresswoman Midy Cua, through Q-Life Upland Ecosystem Program, staged its first Quirino Coffee Expo at the Quirino Watersports Complex in Cabarroguis, Quirino. This event is in collaboration with the Office of the Provincial Agriculture and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) R2 - Quirino.

Graced by sixty-five (65) stakeholders, the dynamic event provided an opportunity for coffee industry players to gather, including coffee farmers, traders, exhibitors, processors, and coffee enthusiasts, all participating in a one-day event.

“With our continued commitment to supporting the province’s coffee industry through our programs and projects, we have and will always ensure that our province is equipped with the modern technologies needed by our stakeholders through our Shared Service Facility Project and prioritization in our Industry Cluster Enhancement Program. Hand in hand, let us strive to transform our golden green cherries and bolster trade and investments for our Kailyans,” said DTI Quirino Provincial Director Mary Ann Corpuz-Dy during her opening message.

The jam-packed expo featured two major events: the Coffee Quality Competition, which consisted of green bean grading and coffee cupping & sensory evaluation, and the Barista Showdown, which included a signature coffee drink challenge and precise espresso shot competition.

Coffee shop owners and farmers bagged awards in various competition categories:

The 1st Quirino Coffee Expo celebrated the province’s coffee abundance by showcasing high-quality beans, exploring market opportunities, and empowering coffee industry players.

The collaborative initiative was supported by coffee specialists Emeline Sabado, Q Processing Assistant Instructor II – Robusta, Arabica Q Grader, and Q Processing Professional Arabica and Robusta; Jerry Cabalce, Q Grader Arabica and Robusta, CQI Lecturer, Q Processing Professional Robusta, SCA Roaster Professional, and SCA Green Grading Professional; and Angelica V. Colobong, Secretary of the Isabela Coffee Industry Board and President of the Santiago City Coffee Alliance. Also supporting the event were Mary Ann Corpuz-Dy, DTI Provincial Director; Emogene P. Senense, Q Grader; Ardel Mark Sobrepena, OIC Project Manager of the QLife Upland Ecosystem Program; QLife staff members; and the DTI R2 Quirino team.
