Our destination for the week..
Mt. Samat

Mount Samat is a mountain in Pilar, Bataan, Philippines, known for its historical significance and the Mount Samat National Shrine (Dambana ng Kagitingan) dedicated to Filipino and American soldiers who fought during World War II

It was the site of the "last stand" against Japanese forces in 1942 before the surrender and the Bataan Death March. The shrine commemorates the bravery and sacrifice of Filipino and American soldiers during World War II.

Memorial Cross: The centerpiece of the shrine is a towering memorial cross, symbolizing valor and remembrance. It stands 92 meters (302 feet) high and has a viewing gallery at the arms of the cross, accessible by elevator or stairs, offering panoramic views..

Colonnade and Altar of Valor: The colonnade houses the Altar of Valor, a tribute to the soldiers who fought in the Battle of Bataan. The altar is made of carved marble, and the colonnade features engravings and narratives depicting the battle's historical signifance.

Museum: Within the colonnade, a museum showcases artifacts and memorabilia from the war, providing a deeper understanding of the events that unfolded during the Battle of Bataan.
