LBO President Joins Dialogue with Former Overseas Bangsamoro Workers

Cotabato City, February 20, 2025 – In a bid to address the concerns and challenges faced by former overseas Bangsamoro workers, League of Bangsamoro Organizations (LBO) President Prof. Hashim B. Manticayan took part in a consultative meeting today in Libungan Toreta, Pahamudin, Special Geographic Area (SGA).

The event, organized by the Former Overseas Bangsamoro Workers Association Inc. (FOBWAI), served as a platform for returning workers to voice their experiences and explore potential livelihood opportunities within the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

To support this initiative, key government stakeholders were invited, including representatives from Pahamudin’s Local Government Units (LGUs) and BARMM ministries. Among them were the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST), the Ministry of Trade, Investment, and Tourism (MTIT), and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR).

Discussions focused on employment reintegration, economic empowerment, and sustainable livelihood programs that could benefit returning workers and their families. Participants expressed optimism about future collaborations that could help them transition smoothly back into the local workforce.

The consultative meeting highlighted the collective effort to strengthen economic opportunities for former overseas workers, reinforcing the Bangsamoro government's commitment to inclusive growth and community development.
