𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗦 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝟮𝟬-𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝗪𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀✨

July 8, 2026 | A total of 100 SPES beneficiaries officially received their 20-day salary, with 60% of their wages (₱6,902.76) funded by the Local Government Unit of Concepcion. The payout was personally led by Mayor Milliard Villanueva, together with Sherry M. Velonero, PESO Designate.

The remaining 40% of the beneficiaries' wages will be provided by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) as part of the program's cost-sharing arrangement.

The Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) is a youth employment program of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) that provides temporary employment opportunities to deserving and underprivileged students during school breaks. Through this initiative, students are able to earn income to help cover their educational expenses and support their families.

Beyond financial assistance, SPES gives students the opportunity to gain valuable work experience, develop practical skills, and build confidence as they prepare for their future careers. It also encourages responsibility, discipline, and a stronger sense of community while allowing them to continue pursuing their education.

July 3, 2026 | Earlier today, the LGU of Concepcion co-hosted a learning exchange on the CAPIN Project at the Child Protection Center Conference Room.

The activity welcomed 20 staff members from the Center for the Prevention and Treatment of Child Sexual Abuse (CPTCSA) of San Carlos City and Don Salvador Benedicto, together with our partner SAO and representatives from Mission Alliance.

The benchmarking visit aimed to give participants a closer look at how the CAPIN Model is implemented in the Municipality of Concepcion. Through discussions and knowledge-sharing, the visitors learned about the strategies, collaboration, and community-based approaches that have helped strengthen child protection efforts and improve support for children and families.

The exchange also provided an opportunity for both municipalities to share experiences, explore good practices, and discuss ways to further improve child protection programs in their respective communities.

Present during the activity were Ms. Gloria Franco, MSWDO; Dr. Mark Anthony P. Celestial, MHO; Mr. Kim Depalobos; Mr. Sheldon Pudot; Ms. Gemma Moquete; and representatives from the Women and Children Protection Desk (WCPD) and the Philippine National Police (PNP).

By learning from one another and working together, local government units and partner organizations continue to strengthen community-based child protection systems that create safer and more supportive environments for every child.

June 27, 2026 | The Municipality of Concepcion marked a historic milestone as Duag Sang Balangaw successfully organized the first-ever Pride Month Celebration, bringing together members of the LGBTQIA+ community, local officials, partner agencies, and residents in a meaningful celebration of diversity, equality, and inclusion.

The event featured a colorful Pride Parade, an HIV and AIDS awareness campaign, and exciting stage competitions that highlighted the creativity, talent, and confidence of the participants. Through these activities, the celebration served as an opportunity to raise awareness, promote acceptance, and strengthen the community's support for every individual, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation.

Adding excitement to the celebration were the much-anticipated pageant and drag competition. Congratulations to Jonald Garcia, who was crowned Miss Grand Duag Sang Balangaw 2026, and to Azhley Amangas, winner of Ready, Set, Drag!

The success of this historic celebration was made possible through the collective efforts of the LGBTQIA+ community, the focal person, the officers of Duag Sang Balangaw, volunteers, and everyone who contributed their time and dedication in organizing the event with the full support of Mayor Milliard S. Villanueva, Vice Mayor Jovelyn O. Estrada, the Sangguniang Bayan Members, Department Heads, LGU employees, partner agencies, and the people of Concepcion.

As the Municipality of Concepcion celebrates this milestone, it also recognizes the importance of creating opportunities where every member of the community feels seen, respected, and valued.
