Bagalnga Integrated School’s BSP Backyard Camping Brings Scouts Together for Skills Training and Community-Building Activities

Bagalnga Integrated School recently held a Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) Backyard Camping event today, November 9-10, 2024. The event was filled with skill-building activities and opportunities for camaraderie and resilience.

Led by coordinators Mrs. Ingrid Arellano for the High School Department and Mrs. Chona Bejoc for the Elementary Department, the event highlighted the values of leadership, teamwork, and practical learning that form the core of scouting.

The event kicked off with a parade and an opening program, setting an energetic tone for the activities that followed.

Scouts participated in an interactive session led by Mrs. Arellano, covering the History of Scouting, Scout Oath, Law, Motto, and Slogan. Mrs. Christine Ann Cabido and Mr. Larry Wagas introduced the scouting handshake, a symbol of respect and friendship, which one scout described as “an expression of respect and for building friendship.” They also enlightened the scouts with the BSP Vision and Mission and Senior Scouts Code.

A range of hands-on activities provided scouts with essential skills and knowledge. Stations featured lessons on Whistle and Hand Signaling, Wigwag Communication, Basic Marching and Drills, First Aid and Bandaging, Flag Code and Flag Folding. These sessions focused on practical training, discipline, and fostering teamwork, enhancing both individual and group skills facilitated by Mrs. Niña Pardo, Mrs. Melissa Responso, Mrs. Rosary Cristy Pepito and Mrs. Mary Jean Jimenez.

Adding significance to the event is Mr. Alden Pelayo, the District BSP Coordinator and School Head, visited the school to monitor the ongoing camping activities, providing support and encouragement. His presence highlighted the district’s commitment to impactful and meaningful scouting initiatives, leaving a positive impression on all participants.

The evening activities were marked by a memorable campfire ceremony. Scouts participated in solemn ritual rites, deepening their connection to scouting values.

Each troop showcased their creativity and talents, leading up to the Search for Talentadong Scouts 2024.

Among the contenders, Carl Paradiang stood out in the Junior BSP Scouts category, while John Dave Monte claimed victory for the Senior Scouts. Their impressive performances earned enthusiastic applause and recognition.

The evening concluded with a heartwarming community song and a Pow Wow session led by scouting leaders, emphasizing reflection, unity, and camaraderie.

The two-day event left a lasting impact, nurturing the scouts’ skills, friendships, and leadership potential.
