The Cebu Provincial Government is looking for passionate and dedicated Cebuanos who are interested in helping improve the Capitol-run hospitals.

This, as People's Governor Pamela Baricuatro has ordered a mass hiring drive to fill vacant positions in the 16 Capitol-run hospitals.

Of the 1,667 vacant positions, 1,513 positions are funded, while 154 slots still require allocation.

"The governor’s marching order is, ‘Get it done,'" said Aldwin Empaces, the Capitol’s assistant provincial administrator.

Empaces clarified that the number of personnel to be hired will depend on the staffing requirements of the Capitol's four provincial hospitals and 12 district hospitals.

The assessment will be conducted by the Department of Health Central Visayas (DOH 7) and the Cebu Provincial Health Office (CPHO), with their recommendations submitted to the Office of the Governor for approval.

"She wants all these done in the first 100 days,” Empaces said.

The positions to be filled include nurses, midwives, doctors, dentists, pharmacists, radiologists, administrative aides, engineers, laboratory technicians, sanitation inspectors, medical specialists, laundry workers, drivers, and cooks, among others. The salary grades for these jobs range from SG 1 to 26.

Strengthening the Province's healthcare system is one of the campaign promises made by Gov. Baricuatro, who won by a landslide in the May elections.

"Ang lack of personnel, mo-reflect man sad gud na sa ato nga output,” said Dr. Mary Ann Josephine Arsenal, CPHO OIC, noting that being understaffed is one of the primary reasons medical services in Capitol-run hospitals are generally labeled by the public as inadequate.

Dr. Arsenal thanked the new governor for making health programs and projects a priority on Capitol's agenda.

"Na-feel gyod namo nga priority na ang health and open gyod si Guv for improvement. Overwhelmed kaayo mi kay full support gyod si Gov. Pam," Dr. Arsenal said.
