Witnessing the immense suffering of wounded soldiers left without medical care, Jean Henri Dunant, later recognized as the Father of the Red Cross, organized local residents to help all those in need, regardless of which side they fought for. His experience inspired the idea that would eventually lead to the creation of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

In commemoration of the Battle of Solferino and the humanitarian values it represents, young volunteers from across Cebu came together to participate in the Mass Youth Volunteer Formation Course (YVFC). Throughout the training, they learned the history, principles, and mission of the Red Cross while beginning their journey as humanitarian leaders committed to serving humanity.

Every volunteer trained today carries forward the same spirit of compassion that began on the battlefield of Solferino over a century ago.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Southwestern University PHINMA โ€“ Senior Plus Red Cross Youth and the Southwestern University PHINMA Management for graciously opening your campus and supporting this the youth. Your generosity has helped shape the next generation of humanitarian volunteers, creating an impact that reaches far beyond the walls of your institution.

We would also like to express our sincere appreciation to our dedicated working committees, and Youth Instructors, led by Mr. Rodrick Methan Paรฑa, for sharing their time, knowledge, and expertise throughout the training. More than teaching skills, you inspired our volunteers to serve with compassion, empathy, and the true spirit of humanity. Thank you for investing in our youth and for helping build a generation of volunteers who are ready to uphold the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross and serve those in need.

Together, we continue to inspire hope, build resilience, and serve humanity.
