The Reaching Hand

When I graduated college many years ago, I recalled my mother told me “You’re now ready for mature roles. Be bold. Be daring. But be wise.”

I did not take it seriously. I thought mag-artista ko. Then suddenly it dawned on me. Tinuod man jud diay. Nag-artista ko. Kana bitaw you act like you’re strong, you’re always ok. You smile when people are around, and then you cry in silence. Ang daming roles na gagampanan. Bills to pay, debts to settle, salaries to divide, and so on.

And yet, I remember I was also told to be bold and daring but wise.

So ayun, pinipili ko na ang mga… ay wait, teka nakalimutan ko ang linya.

I hope no one gets discriminated or judged based on the price of your pb paddles, where you bought it, or where you played. Not even how you make hampas or impas.
