ICYMI | Date with Nature: River Clean-up Drive held in Catarman

CATARMAN, Northern Samar — In celebration of Valentine’s Day, residents and local organizations gathered at 6:00 a.m. on February 14, 2026, for the “Date with Nature: River Clean-up Drive” at River Control in Barangay Jose Abad Santos.

The initiative was led by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) in partnership with NortEco, JAS Acts Organization, JAS YERT Organization, the Sangguniang Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Council, barangay employees, and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

The activity mobilized volunteers to clear waste and debris along the riverbanks, promoting environmental protection and community resilience. Organizers emphasized that beyond waste collection, the clean-up drive highlights the community’s shared responsibility in safeguarding local waterways and supporting climate action efforts.

Through coordinated action and volunteerism, participants underscored the importance of sustaining initiatives that protect the environment and ensure the safety and cleanliness of public spaces.
