PRO7 IS ENFORCING COMELEC GUN BAN FOR SAFE 2025 NATIONAL AND LOCAL ELECTIONS

The Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 announced the implementation of the gun ban starting January 12, 2025, as the election period for the May 2025 polls begins. In collaboration with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), PRO7 joined the nationwide simultaneous launching of COMELEC checkpoints at the Cebu Daily News Building, Sergio Osmeña, Blvd., Cebu City, today.

PBGEN REDRICO ATIENZA MARANAN, Regional Director, PRO7, emphasized the importance of adhering to the guidelines of the COMELEC for the conduct of checkpoints to ensure public safety during this election period.

Only authorized personnel from the Philippine National Police, the Armed Forces of the Philippines, and other law enforcement agencies are permitted to carry fi****ms during gun ban.

“Our goal is to achieve zero gun-related incidents during the midterm elections. We are ready for safe, secure, and orderly 2025 National and Local Elections,” said PBGen Maranan.

He calls the public to cooperate during the simultaneous checkpoints conducted by the police and the COMELEC. This initiative is crucial for enforcing the gun ban and fostering a secure environment for everyone. (PRO7-PIO)
