The National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) invites volunteers, advocates, organizations, and agencies to take part in this year’s observance of 17th National Rare Disease Week and Rare Disease Day on February 23-28, 2026.

With the theme “More Than You Can Imagine,” this annual observance highlights the strength and resilience of persons living with rare diseases. Globally, more than 300 million people are affected by around 6,000 rare conditions.

Let us raise awareness, share stories, and work together toward a more inclusive Philippines for all.

Ipinahayag ni Sen. Idol Raffy Tulfo ang kanyang suporta sa pondo ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) para sa Project Aruga, na naglalayong magbigay ng suporta sa mga batang may kapansanan at kanilang mga pamilya.

Sa plenary deliberations ng Senado para sa proposed 2026 budget ng DSWD, hinimok ni Sen. Tulfo ang ahensya na palawakin pa ang saklaw ng programa at taasan ang ibinibigay na tulong sa mga benepisyaryo.

Kinumpirma ni Budget Sponsor Sen. Pia Cayetano na ang Project Aruga ay kasalukuyang pilot program lamang na ipinatutupad sa apat na lokal na pamahalaan, kung saan 400 benepisyaryo ang nakatanggap ng one-time disability support allowance na ₱10,000 bawat isa.

Sinabi ni Sen. Raffy na sana ay mapalawak pa ang Project Aruga dahil napakagandang programa nito. Dapat din daw ikonsidera ang pagbibigay ng buwanang allowance sa mga benepisyaryo imbes na one-time 10,000 pesos dahil hindi biro ang gastusin ng mga children with disabilities at kanilang pamilya.

“Alam naman natin na napakagastos mag-aruga ng children with disabilities — mula sa pamasahe papunta sa therapy hanggang sa iba pang medical needs. Mainam kung mabigyan sila ng regular na tulong pinansyal,” dagdag pa niya.
