The College of Agriculture and Forestry proudly congratulates Ma'am Rosalie Belano, a Licensed Professional Teacher and faculty member handling courses under the Department of Animal Science, on the successful publication of a portion of her master's thesis in a Scopus-indexed journal, in collaboration with researchers from Pangasinan State University. She is a co-author of the research article entitled:

"Comparative Analysis of Organic Matter Dynamics and Coral Reef Condition Using Machine Learning."

🏆 FACULTY RESEARCH ACHIEVEMENT

We proudly recognize Ms. Teresita Jazmin-Bajas, a faculty member of the Department of Animal Science under the College of Agriculture and Forestry and a PhD candidate at Pampanga State Agricultural University, for her outstanding achievement at the 3rd International Graduate School Research Conference held last May 16, 2026. 🌱📚

✨ Ms. Bajas was awarded Best Oral Presentation during the conference with the theme:
“Transforming Futures: Advancing Agriculture, Biological Sciences, and Education through Sustainable Innovation in the Era of Industry 4.0 and SDGs.”

Her presentation featured her research on quail production, highlighting the importance of sweet potato enhancement as an alternative and sustainable animal feed resource. Her study demonstrates how innovative and science-based approaches can contribute to improved livestock production, sustainability, and agricultural development.

We proudly celebrate the success and remarkable achievements of our students who participated in the Selection for Best Thesis in the Undergraduate and Graduate Categories, held at the DRD K-Cafe last May 14–15, 2026. 🌱📚

Congratulations to Ms. Mica Lacsina, Master of Science in Forestry candidate, under the supervision of Dr. Sinamar E. Estudillo, for emerging as one of the winners with her outstanding study on the conservation of migratory birds. Her research highlights the importance of biodiversity conservation and environmental protection through science-based approaches and sustainable environmental awareness.

We also proudly commend our undergraduate students who confidently presented and defended their research studies before the panel and audience. Their works focused on sweet potato product development and sweet potato pest control management, showcasing innovation, scientific excellence, and dedication to addressing agricultural challenges through research-driven solutions.

📌 STUDENT RESEARCH UPDATE

🌱 Research in action continues as students from the College of Agriculture and Forestry showcase their ongoing thesis outputs during an ocular inspection activity together with Plant Pathology and Entomology experts.

Ocular inspection plays an important role in research because it allows researchers to directly observe field conditions, identify existing and potential problems early, and validate actual crop responses in real-world environments. As the saying goes, “prevention is better than cure,” making early detection and proper assessment essential in developing effective and sustainable agricultural solutions.

Through field observations, evaluations, and scientific assessments, the students presented innovative approaches and ongoing studies focused on pest management in sweet potato production. This activity highlights the importance of science-based strategies in improving crop protection and supporting farmers through practical and sustainable solutions.

The student researchers were guided by Mr. Dhan Joel Falible, Mr. Christian Robillos, Ms. Jo-Anne Lynne Joy Duque, and Ms. Lyka A. Sia, all from the Agricultural Sciences Department, whose mentorship and expertise continue to encourage innovation, critical thinking, and research excellence among students.
