Empowering Local Governance through Geospatial Technology

The TAU College of Engineering and Technology – Department of Geodetic Engineering extends its geospatial expertise to the Provincial Government of Tarlac through a GIS training workshop titled “Building Geospatial Competence among Assessors for Data-Driven Land Governance.” Initiated by the Provincial Assessor’s Office, the workshop aims to strengthen the geospatial skills and technical capacity of assessors and technical personnel involved in real property tax mapping.

The five-day workshop provides a comprehensive introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and demonstrates how GIS can be effectively integrated into real property tax mapping. Participants engage in a series of hands-on sessions designed to strengthen their technical skills, allowing them to apply geospatial tools and techniques to real-world land administration and assessment tasks. Through this training, the initiative supports the advancement of data-driven, efficient, and technology-enabled local governance.
