Ramadan Mubarak to all our Muslim brothers & sisters!

Ramadan is the month in which the first verses of the Quran were revealed to the Prophet Muhammad.

It’s a period of introspection, communal prayer (ṣalāt) in the mosque, and reading of the Qurʾān. God forgives the past sins of those who observe the holy month with fasting, prayer, and faithful intention.

Throughout the fasting hours each day of the month, observing Muslims abstain from eating, drinking, smoking, and sexual relations to achieve greater “taqwa”, or consciousness of God.

Our brothers and sisters then end their daily Ramadan fast at sun set - Iftar is one of the religious observances of Ramadan, and is often done as a community, with Muslim people gathering to break their fast together.

It is believed that feeding someone iftar as a form of charity is very rewarding and that such was practised by Muhammad.
