​Fresh from CASTED 2026 today (May 30, 2026), ASEP dropped a technical deep-dive into the upcoming, unreleased NSCP 8th Edition.
​To accommodate global alignment and massive technical updates, the code is expanding from a single 910+ page volume to 1,460+ pages summarized across 4 distinct books:
👉 Book 1: General, Soils, & Minimum Design Loads
👉 Book 2: Structural Concrete
👉 Book 3: Structural Steel
👉 Book 4: Wood & Other Structures

​Here is the quick, high-level breakdown of the major reference codes we'll be adapting:
✅️ Wind Loads: Upgraded to ASCE/SEI 7-16 and ANSI/TIA-222-H.
✅️ Seismic Load: We are finally leaving the old UBC 1997 framework behind! Seismic design will now adapt ASCE/SEI 7-05 paired with the SHADE Atlas (Seismic Hazard Atlas for the Design Earthquake of the Philippines), introducing Maximum Considered Earthquake (MCE) maps.
✅️ Concrete: Fully aligned with ACI 318-19 and ACI 318-19(22).
✅️ Steel & Wood: Adopting the modern AISC 2016 suite (Specs 360, Seismic 341, and Connections 358), AISI S100-16 for cold-formed steel, and NDS 2018 for wood.
