Gospel: John 20:19-31

“𝑩𝒍𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒆𝒅 𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒃𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒆𝒗𝒆—𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒃𝒆𝒄𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒚 𝒔𝒆𝒆, 𝒃𝒖𝒕 𝒃𝒆𝒄𝒂𝒖𝒔𝒆 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒚 𝒕𝒓𝒖𝒔𝒕.”

We live in a world that often tells us that “seeing is believing.” Today’s reading describes Jesus’ encounter with his disciple Thomas, who doubted Jesus’ resurrection. Again, Jesus encountered many other disciples after that first Easter morning. Our encounter with the resurrected Jesus is a sign of God’s mercy and an assurance of Peace that this world cannot give.

After His resurrection, Jesus appeared to His disciples in ways they did not immediately recognize—walking with them, entering locked rooms, and revealing Himself in the breaking of bread, ultimately confirming His identity to Thomas. Today, believers encounter Jesus through faith, even without seeing Him physically, trusting in His presence through the Holy Spirit. His message of “Peace” brings comfort, removes fear, restores our relationship with God, and strengthens us to witness His presence in our lives. Despite doubts, we are called to find peace through faith and open our hearts to experience His mercy and presence.
