Books not reconciling? Don’t panic — here’s what to check.
Even small errors can throw off your numbers. Go through these simple steps before stressing:

• Check dates — timing errors are common
Make sure each transaction is recorded on the correct date. Even one early or late entry can cause mismatches.

• Look for missing or duplicate transactions
Compare your books with your bank statement to spot any entries that might be missing or recorded twice. These are easy to overlook but can throw off your balance.

• Make sure all bank fees and charges are recorded
Bank fees, service charges, or other deductions don’t always show in your internal records. Log them to keep your totals accurate.

• Don’t force a match — investigate first
Avoid adjusting the numbers just to make things “look right.” It’s better to find and fix the real issue than to cover it up.
