𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞 | 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗿𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝟯 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗶𝗻 𝟴𝘁𝗵 𝗚𝗚𝗣

From fifth to third overall, The Forerunner (TFR), the official student publication of Bulacan State University (BulSU) - Bustos Campus, emerged as the overall Top 3 Best Performing Student Publication among 18 competing publications during the 8th Gawad Galing Plaridel (GGP) awarding ceremony held yesterday, May 13, at the BulSU Malolos Amphitheater.

Held under the theme, "Defying Suppression: Campus Journalism as Fourth Estate in the Face of Distortion and Censorship," TFR rose to the Top 3 placement after emerging in both group and individual categories, marking another milestone following its return to the Top 5 Overall Best Performing Student Publications during the 6th Gawad Galing Plaridel 2024.

Anchored to the theme of this year’s GGP, 𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 has been a longstanding struggle in the field of journalism. Apart from its textbook meaning, the act of sanitizing and suppressing the free press is a grave threat to a country that constantly battles distortion in all forms of media available to the public’s eyes.

Together, let us remain informed. Scrutiny and fact-checking are powerful weapons against the big machineries of distortion.
