𝟏𝟐𝐭𝐡 𝐈𝐂𝐈𝐃𝐑𝐑𝐌 𝐔𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐚 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬, 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐎𝐝𝐝𝐬 𝐕𝐢𝐚 𝐅𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐎𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐌𝐨𝐝𝐞 - 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐎𝐍𝐄

With a complete lineup of speakers & presenters and a full crowd of participating audience, the 12th International Conference on Integrative Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (ICIDRRM) took place and concluded to a huge success on November 26-27, 2025.

ESSU President, Dr. Andres C. Pagatpatan, Jr. formally kicked off the conference with a warm message of welcome to all guests and participants. Opening day was an ample serving of various DRRM best practices and implementation models through a full treat of plenary sessions from reputable authorities in the field.

UP–Los Baños School of Environmental Science and Management Professor, Dr. Patricia Ann J. Sanchez opened the sessions with a replayable and captivating presentation on “Innovating Disaster Risk Education: Redesigning Curricula for Resilient Futures”, garnering spirited reactions from the participants.

UP–Cebu Professor and Director of the Center for Environmental Informatics (CENVI), Dr. Jonnifer R. Sinogaya followed up the scholarly discussions with his lecture on “Bridging Academia and Communities: Strengthening University – Community Partnerships for Disaster Preparedness and Recovery”, offering cutting-edge methodology on the subject.

UP–Los Baños School of Environmental Science and Management Dean, Dr. Decibel V. Faustino-Eslava concluded the first day of plenary sessions with an enthralling presentation on “Resilience by Design: Policy, Research, and Risk Governance in Tourism and other High-Impact Sectors”.

The speakers offered brand new ideas and tested frameworks in preparedness and in mitigating the effects of disasters from their own practical experiences in their respective fields of operation. In the open forum of the first day of plenary sessions, the speakers engaged the audience in a scholarly exchange of ideas and countless opportunities for collaboration that promises to fortify the disaster resilience of communities, from the smallest unit in the countryside up to the largest in the global scale.

The organizers are thrilled to announce the winners of the Paper Presentations in the 12th International Conference on Integrative Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (ICIDRRM) conducted via Zoom on November 26-27, 2025.

Getting the nod from the panel of evaluators for the BEST PAPER award are the researchers from the University of the Philippines Open University’s (UPOU) Ricardo T. Bagarinao, Noreen Dianne S. Alazada, and Janele Ann C. Belegal with their study: “𝘋𝘪𝘴𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘗𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘢 𝘚𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘰-𝘌𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘥𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘓𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘖𝘳𝘮𝘰𝘤 𝘊𝘪𝘵𝘺, 𝘗𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘱𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘦𝘴: 𝘐𝘮𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺- 𝘓𝘰𝘤𝘢𝘭 𝘎𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘯𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘵-𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘗𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱𝘴”.

The BEST PRESENTER recognition was awarded to Dr. Ronald Orale of Samar State University (SSU) for exhibiting clarity of scholarly presentation of their research entitled, “𝘉𝘳𝘪𝘥𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘚𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘗𝘰𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘙𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴: 𝘈 𝘔𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘪-𝘚𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘗𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘍𝘳𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘚𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘜𝘳𝘣𝘢𝘯 𝘞𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘔𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵” along with two other co-authors.

Also earning praise from the panelists for advancing research, innovation, and evidence-based practices in disaster risk reduction, climate resilience, and sustainable development were two SPECIAL CITATION awardees; Lorelei B. Agcanas, and Jeremiah Micha-Shine D. Morales of Isabela State University (ISU)-Main Campus for their study entitled, “𝘔𝘢𝘺 𝘉𝘢𝘨𝘺𝘰 𝘉𝘢? 𝘚𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴’ 𝘙𝘪𝘴𝘬 𝘐𝘯𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯-𝘚𝘦𝘦𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘉𝘦𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘰𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘈𝘤𝘤𝘦𝘱𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘊𝘳𝘰𝘸𝘥𝘴𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘤𝘦𝘥 𝘐𝘯𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯”, as well as ESSU’s very own, Dr. Anbony D. As various personalities express their support for the 12th iteration of the International Conference on Integrative Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (ICIDRRM), the conference launches virtually via the Zoom platform today, November 25, 2025.

Over a hundred participants from all throughout the country and beyond joined the online session for the opening ceremony and first plenary discussion. A few distinguished plenary speakers are still lined up for the afternoon sessions while the paper presentation will commence tomorrow, November 27th.
