June 3–4, 2026 | The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Marinduque, through Negosyo Center Mogpog, in partnership with the Municipal Government of Mogpog through its Municipal Agriculture Office, successfully conducted the activity “Cacao Imprints: Transforming Leaves into Artisan Crafts (Fossilized Cacao Leaves).”
The activity was attended by 30 members of the Mogpog Cacao Producers Association, who gained new knowledge and skills in creating products from fossilized cacao leaves. This initiative resulted in the development of three product prototypes, which will be launched at the upcoming Cacao Trade Fair to provide additional livelihood opportunities and help diversify and expand their product offerings.
The Mogpog Cacao Producers Association expressed its sincere gratitude to DTI Marinduque and the LGU of Mogpog for the valuable knowledge and skills they acquired during the two-day training on cacao leaf fossilization.
They also extended their heartfelt appreciation to the trainers from Batangas, particularly the team from VIN VIE Integrated Farm Corp., led by Ms. Irene Mangunat Becerra, for sharing and demonstrating their expertise and craftsmanship in cacao leaf fossilization.
The Mogpog Cacao Producers Association aims to further enhance the skills they have acquired and promote their products not only within the Municipality of Mogpog but also throughout the Province of Marinduque.
