The Department of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (DABE) conducted its first Hard Hatting and Pinning Ceremony at the RDE Hall on June 5, formally recognizing 106 Bayaw interns prior to their deployment for internship training.
The ceremony marked a significant milestone for the department as it institutionalized a formal rite recognizing the studentsโ shift to professional practice. Through the donning of hard hats and pinning rites, the interns were acknowledged for reaching an important stage in their engineering journey. Faculty members, proud parents, and invited guests attended the event in support of the students.
Engr. Lydian Rose Rubio, Officer-in-Charge of the Regional Agricultural Engineering Division (RAED), served as the keynote speaker. In her address, she emphasized the importance of character, competence, and hard work in the practice of agricultural and biosystems engineering.
The hard hatting and pinning ceremony serves as a formal recognition of the students' readiness to engage in experiential learning and apply the knowledge and skills acquired through their classroom education.
As the first ceremony of its kind conducted by the department, the event creates a precedent for future internship cohorts and reflects DABE's continuing efforts to strengthen professional formation among its students.
With the completion of the ceremony, the student interns are set to begin their respective internship assignments, carrying with them the knowledge, values, and professional standards expected of future practitioners in the field of agricultural and biosystems engineering.
